The administration of Mayor Tishaura Jones has inexplicably lost its way on one of the most important issues for which she was elected: Reform and accountability of the woeful city jail system.

It didn’t seem possible, but jail accountability has worsened on her watch. A civilian Detention Facility Oversight Board (DFOB) established in the past year continues to get stonewalled by the very individuals and agencies it was created to oversee.
