COUNTY VOTERS PAY THROUGH THE NOSE FOR SAM PAGE’S SPITE

Former County Councilman Tim Fitch has officially laughed all the way to the bank.

Fitch settled a lawsuit against St. Louis County government, unfreezing $339,000 in frozen pension benefits he earned during a 31-year career with the Police Department. And a nice $105,000 tip in back interest. And $160,000 in payouts for his attorneys’ fees.

That’s $265,000 in wasted taxpayer dollars, plus whatever the county spent on its own attorneys, to fight in court for the “principle” that tenured county employees must suffer a suspension of their earned pension benefits if they get elected to the County Council.

But it’s also about politics and the mendacity of County Executive Sam Page.
