How Missouri Is Killing Its Own Citizens—Starting With Its Kids
The cheapest cigarettes in America come with the highest cost
You don’t have to be a public health expert to understand this: The easier it is to buy cigarettes, the more they’ll be bought.
The more cigarettes are bought, the more they’ll be smoked, especially by kids. And the more kids start smoking at a young age, well, I don’t need to say more.
Cancer does the rest.
Today, Missouri has the lowest cigarette taxes in the nation by such a vast margin as to suspend disbelief. It is the national outlier, practically marketing itself as The Smokers’ State, shoving its own residents and “tobacco tourists” toward self-harm.
And it has the tragic and documented health consequences to show for it.
Such a disgrace. And the numbers don’t lie.
