If you’re not a political junkie you might have missed it, but House Minority Leader Crystal Quade announced this week that she’s running for Missouri governor in 2024.

There’s a broad assumption in the political world that Missouri has become an unalterably deep red state. It was hardly a surprise, then, that Quade’s entry into the race created few waves, especially in this part of the state.

But Republicans underestimate Quade at their peril.
