Does Missouri harbor too much racism to elect a Black Senator in 2024? I spoke to Bell after he announced

Wesley Bell has done a terrific job as St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney, and he would make an even better U.S. Senator.

But it’s an open question as to whether Bell could overcome two centuries of ugly racial history in Missouri to defeat Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Insurrection) in 2024. Bell, who announced his candidacy today, spoke with me hours after his announcement.
